Place Name
Named after The Woodlands Villa or Cottage, a house now Number 12 Vine Street. The property itself was named after Stephen Woodland in 1840 and the name Woodlands remained ever since. The road was part of new residential development aimed at commuters following the coming if the railway to the area. Woodland was appointed a constable of Barnes Common in 1845.
