Place Name
One of a small cluster of streets that are named after ports, probably inspired by the local connection to Odessa. Palermo is in the northwest of the island of Sicily, by the Gulf of Palermo in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The city was founded in 734BC by the Phoenicians and later became a possession of Carthage. Two Greek colonies were established, known collectively as Panormos or All-Port, due to its large anchorage. See also Ancona Road, Leghorn Road, Odessa Road, and Spezia Road.
