Place Name
One of a trio of relatively new streets named after the Grand Union Canal as the Regent’s Canal branch passes very nearby. The others are Grand Walk and Canal Close. The canal’s main line starts in London and ends in Birmingham, stretching for 137 miles with 166 locks. The Regent’s Canal branch provides a link from the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal, north-west of Paddington Basin in the west, to the Limehouse Basin and the River Thames in east London. The canal is 8.6 miles long.
