Place Name
Named after Jeremiah Ringer, the long-time tenant of Simpson’s Place, a moated medieval manor house in Bromley, who died in 1789. During his 50 years residence he filled in two sides of the mansion’s moat. He was described by contemporaries as “a truly worthy character”. The house, which is thought to have been originally built in the reign of Edward I in the 13thCentury, was demolished around 1870.
