Place Name
John Rushout (July 23, 1738 – October 20, 1800) was an MP who was created 1st Baron Northwick in 1797, shortly before he died. The Rushout family had been lords of the manor of Harrow since 1666, when Lady Alice Rushout’s father Edmund Pitt died. The title died out in 1887, although the inheritance descended to the Spencer-Churchills. Northwick Park is on land which was once part of the Manor of Harrow, and was the agricultural land of Sheepcote Farm until the 20thCentury.
