Greensted or Greensted-juxta-Ongar is a village in the parish of Ongar. Its name means green place, taken from the Anglo-Saxon language. Greensted is also both a current English and, as Grønstad, a Danish surname. The street itself was laid out in the second half of the 20thCentury.
