Place name
When it was laid out in 1825 it was originally called Dorset Street after Philip Dorset Goepel, its developer who had made his money as a jeweller of Clerkenwell. It was renamed in 1935 by Islington Borough Council most likely on the request of Royal Mail to avoid confusion with streets nearby. It changed again to Dove Road.
