Place Name
Previously Denmark Street. The current name commemorates Augustus George Crowder, a member of the vestry of the Parish of St George in the East and Justice of the Peace who in 1885 paid for St George’s churchyard to be cleared and laid-out as public gardens. It is one of a number of roads in the area remembering members of the vestry, the others are Sly Street, Hellings Street and Tillman Street.
