Place Name
Named after the Trigge family, who were wealthy residents and fishmongers in the 14th and 15thCenturies. John Trigged built himself a mansion here in the reign of Edward III. It had previously been known as Fish Wharf. It was recorded as Tryggeslane in 1422 and Trigg lane in 1603.
