Place Name
This previously unnamed cut-through into Bow Churchyard was named after the author John Milton (December 9, 1608 – November 8, 1674), who was born in nearby Friday Street, to mark his Quadricentenary celebrations in 2008. His greatest work, the poem Paradise Lost, was published in 1667.
