Place Name
Named after the prominent and wealthy Drapers, a family of Quakers, who owned and farmed land on the Ridgeway from at least the mid-18thCentury. The first Henry Draper recorded here died in 1791, the land was passed down the family and more than 70 years later another Henry Draper was recorded as a farmer here in local directories. A water main was laid in 1876 and the first houses were occupied by 1903.
