Place Name
This road roughly follows the layout of Sun Alley featured in maps from 1746. Redevelopment of the area in the late 18thCentury saw its name changed to Crown Court but that was changed to its present name in the latter half of 20thCentury to avoid confusion with other Crown Courts. This took its name from Milton Street, which is thought to take its name from a Mr Milton, a carpenter and builder, who in 1829 owned the building lease of the street, then called Grub Street.
