Place Name
This road was named in honour of Pc Nina Alexandra Mackay who was fatally injured on October 24, 1997 in nearby Arthingworth Street. Pc Mackay, who served in the Territorial Support Group, had gone to the bedsit of a schizophrenic man who was on bail for various offences. While attempting to arrest him, with the aid of other officers, she was stabbed in the abdomen. She later died of her injuries. Sir Paul Condon, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner at the time, described her as a “vibrant, lovely girl who was admired by all her colleagues”.
