Place Name
Named after Elizabeth Beauchamp who inherited the Manor of Bretts in Plaistow sometime around 1719 from her brother, Peter Courtney, who had bought it eight years previously. On her death it was passed to her son Joseph who in turn sold it to Henry Hinde Pelly, lord of East and West Ham Burnells. His grandson broke up the estate selling it for building sometime around the 1850s.
