Place Name
Named in 1875 after Sir Henry Rowe who was an English merchant and Lord Mayor of London in 1607. Sir Henry of Shacklewell, was a wealthy mercer by trade and when he died left the annual income of his estate at Chalgrove, in Bedfordshire for the poor of Hackney. The sum which amounted to £2 16s 0d, was to be spent on bread and coal.
