Place Name
Commemorates Joseph Beck (1829 – 1891), London County Councillor for North Hackney from 1889. He is celebrated along with John Runtz for their work in saving the space, formed from the grounds of Clissold House and the adjacent Newington Common from development, to create Clissold Park. The park was opened by the newly formed London County Council on July 24, 1889.
