Place Name
One of several roads in the area that are named after connections to the Powell family who were landowners around Clapton. In 1809 Robert Marriott (1774 – 1841), Rector of Cotesbach, a village in Leicestershire, married Anne, daughter of James Powell of Clapton. Other streets in the area were named after places where the Baden Powells owned land.
