Place Name
The name comes from the Middle English words mile and ende. Marking the first milestone from the Roman Wall at Aldgate which stood near to Stepney Green and the Mile End Road. It was recorded in 1288 as La Mile Ende and later, in 1383 as La Milende becoming Mylie End Gren in 1554.
