Place Name
This street is named after Christina Georgina Rossetti (December 5, 1830 – December 29, 1894) whose works include Goblin Market and Remember. Her carol In the Bleak Midwinter was later set to music by Gustav Holst. It is one of a number of roads named after popular poets, forming the Poets Estate which was laid out on a former playing field for Purley County Grammar School for Girls. Nearby streets include Betjeman Close, Larkin Close and Shelley Close.
