Place Name
One of seven streets named after “Kenley’s Few” RAF officers stationed at the nearby airfield who lost their lives during the Battle of Britain during World War Two. Derrick Wilson “Wee Halty” Halton (1919 – August 15, 1940) was born in Northamptonshire. After a stint as a reporter on the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, he joined the RAF as a Volunteer Reserve. He was shot down over the English Channel, off Folkestone, Kent. The street sign – like all seven – has the rare distinction of a brief history of his life.
