Place Name
Named after Sir Richard Illingworth, who in 1463 was made Chief Baron of the Exchequer during the reign of Edward IV. His family lived at Hall Place and were large landowners around Mitcham. He died in 1511 and was buried at the Lady Chapel in the church of Mitcham.
