Place Name
Named after a small house of the same name which was part of the Langley Park estate and dates from around 1529. It has been suggested by local historian Reverend Sir H L L Denny, rector of West Wickham that Henry VIII first wooed his future bride Anne Boleyn while hunting in the area. His claim lay in the fact that the lodge had armorial decorations celebrating the couple’s love. The claims have however been disputed.
