Place Name
Named after the Box Tree Inn, which operated from Petty Cottage in the hamlet of Ramsden before licensing laws were introduced. This road was laid out as part of the Ramsden Estate over a former field of Tripe Farm. It was built in the 1960s along with Ryfield and Ramsden Close which were added after Rye Crescent was completed between Hart Dyke Road and Petten Grove. The work was halted in the bitter and prolonged winter that lasted from September 1962 to March 1963. Sometimes spelt Boxtree Walk.
