Place Name

Named after Jerome Weston, second Earl of Portland, (December 16, 1605 – March 17, 1663) whose family had held the Coulsdon estate. When leaseholder Edward Darcy died without any male heirs, Charles II returned the property to the Weston family on condition he surrender his position of Lord President of Munster, in Ireland, to the Crown.
