Place Name

From the Old English words sette and copp, meaning a flat hill top. The name first went on public record in 1254, when the area was known as Cetecopp. By 1301, the name changed to Settecope, and 31 years later, to Sedecoppe; in 1407 it was different again, appearing as Sidycope.
