Maxwell Gardens, BR6

Place Name

This was built on land belonging to the Tubbenden House estate. It was named after Sir Arthur Maxwell-Willshire, one of the last residents of the property. When the railway was built in 1887, so too was the nearby pub the Maxwell Arms, which later became The Maxwell.
