Place Name

Literal. An ancient route that runs from Bexleyheath to Bostall Heath. It remained largely undeveloped until the 1930s, with the exception of a few villas, the Erith Sanatorium and the Bexley Isolation Hospital. Much of the land was farmed by William Sheldon who ran market gardens, orchards and cereals.
