Place Name

In the 14thCentury this was home to hermit Friar John Ingram, an anchorite or religious recluse,  who lived close to St Katherine’s Hospital between 1371 and 1380. By the 15thCentury however it became a public brewhouse and by the 18thCentury it was the Red Lion Brewery. The wall was part of the river wall.
