Place Name
This street led to Haydon Square and is a corruption of John Heydon’s surname. Captain Heydon was Master of the Ordnance between 1627 – 1642 and lived in nearby Minories. The square was first recorded after its present name in 1677 because of Heydon’s interest in the area’s development.
