Place Name

Named after William Cavendish, 4th Duke of Devonshire (May 8, 1720 – October 2, 1764), who was styled Lord Cavendish before AD1729 and Marquess of Hartington between AD1729 and AD1755. He was a British Whig statesman and nobleman who was briefly nominal Prime Minister, serving under William Pitt’s leadership. This is one of a cluster of roads in Farnborough named in honour of former Prime Minsters and Radicals.
