Goodenough Way, CR5

Place Name

Named in honour of Admiral Sir William Edmund Goodenough (June 2, 1867 – January 30, 1945), a senior Royal Navy officer of the First World War who lived at Parson’s Pightle in Old Coulsdon. He commanded the Light Cruiser Squadron that sighted the German Grand Fleet leading to the Battle of Jutland. He is buried at St John’s Church.
