Named after the local area of Croham Hurst, which was first recorded as Craweham in 1225, meaning the farm with lots of crows, a hyrst being the Old English for hillock. The name went through various spellings down the years including Crouham in 1282, Cromehurst in 1605 and Crome Farm in 1819.
