Coney Hill Road, BR4

Place Name

Named after Coney Hall a mansion built sometime around 1880 on common land that had been enclosed by Lord Lennard. It was laid out on a farm called Coney Hill, which was first mentioned in the 17thCentury when it was said that the farmer had the right to catch “coneys” or rabbits on Jackson’s Heath. The mansion later became a school for handicapped children but was destroyed by fire.
