Unsurprisingly there was brewery here. Pickard’s Brewery is named in John¬†Lockie’s Topography of London published in AD1810 but brewers had been operating from around here since at least the early part of the 17thCentury. Barrel makers, an assoicated industry, were also in evidence with John Roque noting Cooper’s Yard near here in his gazetteer of AD1747.
